Haleakala Crater Sunrise Hawaiian Elopement

I met Ryan and Lauren when I photographed them at their couple’s session at Cape Kiwanda on the Oregon coast, I had no idea at the time that I would be going to Haleakala to photograph their elopement. To say I loved these two the minute I met them would be a complete understatement. After grabbing a drink with them before we started shooting, they told me all about their love story and their plans for the future. I left that day with two new friends!

Fast forward to last July. While out shopping for my daughter’s ballet attire, I get a phone call from Lauren with BIG news. Her and Ryan are getting married!  They wanted me to accompany them to Haleakala National Park in Maui to photograph it! As you could imagine, I did not hesitate in saying yes. Even though it meant photographing weddings the weekend before, flying to Hawaii for two days mid week, then coming back to photograph more weddings in Portland directly after. I couldn’t have been more excited to share this EPIC experience with these two.

On August 15th, we made the trek to the top of Haleakala Crater for a sunrise elopement. It was one of the most beautiful sights I have ever witnessed, and one of the most emotional ceremonies I have ever photographed. I don’t think there was a dry eye between the three of us when these two said their vows. I am so incredibily stoked for these two amazing human beings. Congrats to Ryan & Lauren!!!

Domaine de Broglie Willamette Valley Oregon Vineyard Wedding

When Jackie & Michael told me they would be married at Domaine de Broglie (previously Vista Hills Vineyard), it made complete sense! These two love wine, and the scenery at Domaine de Broglie is a perfect match for the vision of their day. Watching two best friends marry is one of my favorite parts of photographing weddings. And after photographing Jackie and Michael’s out of town engagement session in their home town of Kirkland, Washington, I knew their wedding day would be as amazing as the two of them.

Nestled in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley wine country, Domaine de Broglie, provides the PERFECT back drop for your wedding day. Sweeping views of vineyards, the Willamette River valley, and a beautiful tree house and back patio to host a photo-worthy reception. This is why Domaine de Broglie has quickly become one of my favorite places to photograph weddings! Jackie and Michael opted to get ready at Red Hills Market Loft’s down the street, and I would highly recommend this as a great place to stay for the night and get ready at.

Family visited from all over the county to attend this gorgeous wedding. The vibe of the day was incredibly laid back, yet romantic and elegant. Even with a venue as amazing at Domaine de Broglie, and a couple like Jackie & Michael, a wedding day will always be incredible with a team of vendors dedicated to providing the most excellent experience. A HUGE thank you to all the vendors listed below for making this beautiful day possible!

The Bindery Wedding McMinnville Oregon

When I was approached about photographing a beautiful and creatively styled inspirational Bindery wedding, I was so excited. One of my favorite things about industrial spaces, such as The Bindery Event Space, is having a blank slate to make your very own. I absolutely LOVE the vibe we created in this styled shoot.

The owner of this venue, has family roots in the newspaper printing industry. In fact, the family business previously resided in this very building! While the business has moved to another location, much of the venues industrial features reamain the same. Upon arriving to the Bindery Event Space, the first thing I noticed was the amazing concrete floors with cracked blue paint. As a photographer, details like this are a dream. It made the prefect back drop for photograping this details of the shoot. Also, tall windows all throughout the venue made for the best natural light for the ceremony and couple’s portraits.

Located in downtown McMinneville, right in the heart of Oregon Wine Country, this venue is the only industrail venue in the vicinity. I think this is going offer couples a fantastic alternative to a tranditional vineyard wedding.

As for the team on this shoot, I cannot give enough praise! The theme of the shoot was “Black and White, and Red all Over” as the goal was to incorporate the rich history of the building and its roots in the newspaper industry. From the unique red grooms suit and the brides detailed viel with black incorporated and minimalist props, I am so thrilled with how this theme was executed! Thanks to Peachy Keen for bringing every detail together. Her level of perfectionism is really displayed in this inspirational shoot. And thanks to all the vendors listed below! This could not have happened without your hard work.

San Juan Puerto Rico Engagement Session

While traveling to San Juan to photograph Mark and Kuralay’s destination wedding in Puerto Rico, we decided to take their “engagement photos” the day after their wedding! Kuralay is an extremely talanted photographer herself, and her and Mark reside in Washington DC. These two love to travel, so it came as no surprise that they decided to have a destination wedding. Puerto Rico, obviously a beuatiful destination in itself, also made sense for the location of their wedding. Friends and family from the east coast could easily travel within a few hours, and make a long weekend out of the trip.

When I learned I would be photographing their wedding in Puerto Rico, I was estatic! Anyone who knows me, understands my love for travel and the opportunity to photograph weddings outside of my home base in Portland, Oregon. This was my first visit to Puerto Rico and I have to say, it stole my heart. Downtown San Juan was such a fun place to take Mark and Kuralay’s engagement photos. Their wedding provided a completely different backdrop in the middle of a rain forest, so it was great to incorporate the architecture and city vibe of this country. I can’t wait to go back and visit!

While most people opt to take photos before their wedding day, it was so fun to do this the day after! We were able to explore the city and hit up some great restaurants in between shots. It is always so much fun to photograph fellow photographers, and her and Mark were amazing to photograph. Thanks for exploring with me Mark & Kuralay!

Timberline Lodge Winter Elopement

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE elopements at Timberline Lodge near Government Camp, Oregon? I especially enjoy intimate elopements with amazing couples like Katie & Ivar. While I absolutely love photographing larger weddings, elopements hold a very special place in my heart. Without the pressure of schedules, guest arrival, and many of the other moving pieces that come along with planning a larger wedding, I get to witness couples being truly present and in tune with each other when they marry. This was exactly what Katie & Ivar wanted for their day.

When I initially met with Katie, I knew that capturing the details of the day would be of utmost importance.  She left no detail untouched, a photographers dream. I also love that we planned the day to start with Katie & Ivar getting ready together at the lodge. When couples go beyond tradition and bend the rules, it makes beautiful photos. And of course, the rooms provided at Timberline Lodge made the perfect backdrop for their details and getting ready.

What we hadn’t anticipated was a blizzard the day of their elopement! Luckily, Timberline Lodge has great places to photograph inside and outside. I have to give this couple a huge shout out for braving the weather conditions on this day. They were absolutely dedicated to getting the photos they envisioned, and it was so incredibly worth it. There was nothing better than warming up with the Timberline hot chocolates during and after a blizzard. I was beyond thrilled to be a part of this intimate and beautiful day. Congrats to Katie & Ivar!

As for any wedding or elopement, it takes a team of vendors to make the day possible! A big thank you to all the vendors listed below.
